410 Medical launches LifeFlow rapid infuser device in US

MDBR Staff Writer Published 10 February 2017

410 Medical has introduced its new LifeFlow rapid infuser device in the US.

LifeFlow is an easy-to-use device, which enables health care providers to quickly and effectively deliver fluids to critically ill patients with conditions such as sepsis and shock.

Developed to overcome common barriers with fluid delivery, the LifeFlow can be used in different conditions, including pediatric, adult and military emergencies.

The rapid infuser device enables the user to deliver 500 milliliters of fluid to a patient within two and a half minutes.

The company secured approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for LifeFlow device in the last year.

In addition, the firm has selected WakeMed Health & Hospitals as an early evaluation partner and pilot site for the LifeFlow rapid infuser site. WakeMed is a 919-bed hospital system in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The company also started a limited market release of the system in November 2016.

410 Medical co-founder and chief medical officer Dr Mark Piehl said: "We know that early and aggressive fluid therapy can be one of the most important interventions in life-threatening illnesses like sepsis.

"Our most common infusion methods are often slow and ineffective in emergency situations, and currently available rapid infusion techniques are complex and expensive.”

410 Medical CEO Kyle Chenet said: "We believe LifeFlow is a transformative product that will make a profound contribution to the well-being of children and adults with sepsis and other life-threatening conditions."
